THANKFUL FOR READING DAY Do you have a favorite book you like to read? Are you thankful for all of the books you get to read? To help us celebrate reading, we will be having Thankful for Reading Day on Friday, November 16. Thankful for Reading Day will take place at school throughout the whole day! On this day, students may choose their favorite book character and dress-up like them for a costume contest! Please make sure their costume is not scary, reflects a book character, and is school appropriate. If students do not want to wear or do not have a costume for their favorite book character, they may wear their pajamas to school to cuddle up in as they read. During the day, students will get to hear their teacher read their favorite book, visit other classrooms to hear stories, visit special readers, read a story to a peer, and silently read their own current or favorite book. This is going to be the best Thankful for Reading Day yet!
This year there will be a contest to create the yearbook cover. The contest is open to all GRADES! To be considered for the contest all entries are due in the yearbook folder located in the front office by November 27th. Each entry must be no larger than 8.5” x 11” and must be able to be scanned. Entries can be hand drawn or done on a computer, must include the Dolvin Dolphin, and should be based on the #DOLVINCREDIBLE theme. Please include your name, grade, and teacher with each entry. One winner will have their design chosen as the cover, and the winners from each grade will have their artwork showcased on the back cover.
Thanks - Your Dolvin Yearbook Team
Kids Care Needs Your Support! Today through November 14th, Kids Care is collecting essential items & sweets in support of the Atlanta Mission. The Atlanta Mission serves more than 1,000 homeless men, women and children every day. They provide emergency shelter, rehab and recovery services, vocational training services, and transitional housing. Please consider donating travel size toiletries (shampoo, soap, mouthwash toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc), wash cloths, gum & mints. Additionally, the residents of the mission LOVE candy. If you have extra Halloween candy - Bring it in!
The food drive supporting the NFCC is continuing next week. Please consider sending in nonperishable items that they can use to make a Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
